Gaiman + Trelew Day Trip
Day Trip Details
After setting off from your hotel in Puerto Madryn, we'll begin our day trip by heading to Gaiman, one of the towns with the largest Welsh presence in South America. In this municipality, on the banks of the Chubut River, we'll visit the first Welsh house: a dwelling built in 1874 where we'll appreciate the purest "British style".
We'll continue discovering the city's past as we explore its beautiful main square, with its carved trees and the irrigation canal that crosses it. We'll also observe the Welsh legacy in the railway tunnel and in the old chapels built by the settlers after their arrival from across the Atlantic.
Afterwards, we'll head to a traditional establishment in Gaiman so that those who wish to do so can enjoy a typical tea with Welsh cakes.
Finally, we'll visit Trelew, whose name is also more Welsh than Argentine. Do you know why? We'll find out during the tour! In Trelew, we'll visit the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (entrance fee not included). You'll love its exhibition of dinosaur fossils! From Trelew, we'll return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.
